Choosing a professional lighting stand is about more than height. Load capacity, tube thickness, telescopic sections and support legs all matter. Here is a simple guide with real REDJET examples.
1. Working Height and Maximum Load
Working height is the adjustable height range. A 1.7–4 meter stand, for example, can be used within that range. Maximum load is the manufacturer’s rated weight limit under specified conditions. Add up the weights of fixtures, clamps, crossbars and accessories before selecting a stand.
2. What Does Tube Thickness Mean?
Tube thickness describes the wall thickness of a particular metal tube. Common listed values include 1.2, 1.5, 2.0, 2.5 and 3.0 mm.
| Thickness | Simple explanation |
|---|---|
| 1.2–1.5 mm | Relatively thin walls |
| 2.0–2.5 mm | Thicker walls |
| 3.0 mm | Thicker still, for the specified component |
Is thicker always stronger? With the same material, tube diameter and shape, thicker walls generally resist bending better. But a stand’s safe load capacity depends on its whole structure, including mast dimensions, joints, locks and base. Thickness is not a load rating. Check which component the number describes.
3. Telescopic Sections and Support Legs
Telescopic sections slide to raise or lower the mast. You might see round tube sizes such as 45 / 35 mm or square profiles such as 120 / 100 / 80 / 60 mm. These describe section dimensions, not maximum load. Support legs, braces, the base footprint and leveling feet help keep the complete stand stable.
4. Two REDJET Examples
XH-DJ023 — 4 Meter, 80 kg

A telescopic lighting stand with a 480 mm beam and round-tube mast sections. See XH-DJ023 specifications.
XH-DJ002 — 5.5 Meter, 200 kg

This heavier stand uses a hand-crank mechanism, braced legs and adjustable support feet. See XH-DJ002 specifications.
5. Quick Selection Checklist
- Calculate the full equipment weight.
- Check your required working height.
- Compare tube thickness and profile sizes.
- Review support legs, locks and lifting mechanism.
- Follow the manufacturer’s rated limits and setup instructions.
Remember: A thicker tube does not automatically mean a higher safe lifting capacity. Choose the complete stand for the job, with suitable safety measures for elevated equipment.
